Andrew Brown, Executive Director

Andrew Brown holds a B.A. in International Affairs and an M.P.A. in Non-Profit Management from The George Washington University, where he received the International Programs Fellowship and served on the International Programs Advisory Council. Brown saw the need for supporting foreign language education at GW and in September 2005 he founded Global Languages as a student organization, which was later incorporated as a non-profit (The Global Language Network) in 2008.

Brown has won seven awards for his work, including The George Washington Award, the highest award bestowed upon any individual at GW.

Svetozar Palankov, Assistant Director

Svetozar Palankov was born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he graduated from the American College of Sofia. He holds a B.A. in English and French from Ohio Wesleyan University and an M.A. in European and Eurasian Studies from The George Washington University. He has worked as a research assistant at the German Marshall Fund, Freedom House Europe, and the Institute for European and Eurasian Studies within the Elliott School, and in the summer of 2007 he studied abroad in Budapest, Hungary, doing coursework in Central European Politics. He has volunteered for The Global Language Network since September 2006 and upon GLN’s incorporation, assumed the position of Assistant Director.

Chelsea Lehman, Member Services Coordinator

Chelsea Lehman holds a B.A. in History and African American studies from Fordham University. Upon graduation, she was awarded a Fulbright teaching fellowship in Terengganu, Malaysia where she taught English. After working in Southeast Asia for two years, she moved to Washington DC and began working as the GLN’s Member Services Coordinator. Chelsea also currently teaches English as a Second Language to adult immigrants at the Carlos Rosario School.
