Melissa - Student
The GLN has cultivated in me a desire to continue learning a foreign language.
Our Approach
The Global Language Network’s approach to language learning sets it apart from any other program. It is based on Stephen Krashen’s theory on second language acquisition.
GLN Precepts
- We help students build confidence, not fluency. By building students’ confidence, we enable them to use the language to connect and communicate with others.
- Language is a tool that can establish connections and build relationships.
- Language and culture are not different or separate. They are intricately intertwined. Students will learn a language through the culture and the culture through the language
- Full immersion: direct experiences to the language and culture are essential to develop communicative competence. Teachers and students communicate in the target language only. No English!
- A comfortable, friendly and interactive learning environment enables students to build confidence and communicate successfully in the target language
- Learning language and culture should be fun, engaging and free from the stresses of grades and traditional assessment
